Rates, assumptions and sources

Variable benchmark: Ofgem regional Direct Debit rates for October–December 2026 (regional dataset checked 16 October; period and VAT basis rechecked 23 October). Fixed: UW Fixed Saver 100, tariff label UWETL211026, retrieved 23 October 2026. Rates can be withdrawn; an official quote confirms availability.

Selected fixed rates: electricity 28.301p/kWh + 46.297p/day; gas 9.31665p/kWh + 12.11070p/day. Gas includes 5% VAT; electricity uses the current 0% VAT basis. Future tax changes are excluded.

Calculation: annual kWh × unit rates + 365 daily standing charges. Where both fuels are supplied, the £12.38 excluding VAT discount per fuel is deducted once. No gas supply removes gas standing charges and the dual-fuel discount. A zero gas usage with a gas supply still incurs its standing charge.

Fixed Saver 100 requires three or four qualifying services throughout. Leaving that bundle can change the tariff. Exit fee £75 per fuel. Fixed unit rates do not fix how much energy you use. Welcome credit is kept separate from all energy totals.

The January 20–25% range is a user-selected illustration, not a Cornwall Insight forecast or Ofgem announcement. It does not model separate fuel or standing-charge changes.
