Your free bill review
What Actually Happens During a Free Bill Review?
If you have never had your household bills reviewed before, you may be wondering what is involved, how long it takes—or whether you will face a hard sell.
A free bill review is a straightforward look at what you currently pay for energy, broadband and mobile SIMs, followed by a clear explanation of what Utility Warehouse could offer instead.
There is no pressure and no obligation. You decide what happens next.
What happens during the review?
We begin with your current position: what you pay, what you receive and what matters to your household. That includes energy usage, broadband speed, mobile SIM data allowances, contract dates and any exit fees.
I then show you what Utility Warehouse could offer for comparable or more suitable services. This is not a whole-of-market comparison; it is a clear assessment of whether the UW options could provide better overall value for your household.
We look beyond a headline monthly figure. The comparison includes service suitability, contract lengths, one-off charges, any price changes already disclosed, exit fees and the timing of each potential switch.
What should I have ready?
For the quickest and most accurate review, it helps to have:
- Your latest energy bill or annual electricity and gas usage
- Your broadband price, speed and contract details
- The monthly price, data allowance and contract position for each mobile SIM
For each mobile SIM, text INFO to 85075 free of charge. Your provider should reply with information including whether you are still within a minimum contract period and whether an early termination charge may apply. For several numbers on one account, you may need to check online or contact the provider.
Do not worry if you cannot find everything. We can identify what is missing before any decision is made.
Where does the review take place?
I can visit you at home, talk you through the review by phone using an online portal, or prepare a personalised quotation for you to consider in your own time.
A full appointment usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the number of services and questions involved. With everything ready and a straightforward household, it can take as little as 10 minutes.
Do existing contracts mean I have to wait?
Not automatically. We identify the early termination fees for each service and compare them with the financial effect of switching now or waiting.
For eligible customers who take a qualifying three-service or four-plus-service bundle, UW may provide account credit of up to £400 towards qualifying early termination fees charged by existing providers. Home insurance termination fees are excluded; equipment must be returned and services already used must still be paid for. Additional requirements apply to tenants, and further terms and eligibility criteria apply.
I will confirm the current offer and applicable conditions during the review. We include the complete figures before deciding when—or whether—to move anything.
What are the possible outcomes?
A review can legitimately lead to any of four decisions:
- Switch now if the complete figures and timing make sense.
- Wait until a contract ends, an exit fee falls or another date is more suitable.
- Switch in phases, moving some services now and others later.
- Stay exactly as you are if your current arrangements remain the right fit.
No change is a perfectly valid outcome. The purpose is to make a conscious decision with clear information—not to force a switch.
Where do bundling and cashback fit?
Bringing qualifying services together can affect UW pricing and make bills easier to manage, but it is only one part of the comparison. You can move services in phases or keep a service elsewhere where that makes sense.
Eligible customers can apply for the UW Cashback Card and earn cashback on qualifying spending, which is credited against their UW bill. New customers may also receive up to £150 in Cashback Card bonus credit when switching more than one qualifying service. The amount depends on the services selected; current offer terms and eligibility criteria apply.
I will explain any relevant bundle or cashback benefit separately, so you can see whether the underlying services work for you without making cashback the reason for the decision.
What happens if I decide to switch?
If you choose to proceed, you enter your personal information through UW’s secure appointment portal. Sensitive details—including your bank information and the password you create—are hidden from me.
Before submitting the order, you can check the selected services, prices, charges, contract lengths, terms and the amount you are agreeing to pay. Nothing is confirmed until you choose to proceed.
UW manages the relevant supplier notifications for energy and broadband switches. Broadband uses One Touch Switching where applicable. If mobile SIMs are included, they arrive by post with instructions for transferring existing numbers.
UW emails the order summary and provides updates through its customer app. I remain available to explain what happens next and help if you have questions while the services transfer.
